Não basta abrir a janela
Para ver os campos e o rio.
Não é bastante não ser cego
Para ver as árvores e as flores.
FERNANDO PESSOA
METAMORPHOSIS
Both in north Sardinia and in Brittany, the coast shows some extraordinary granite formations. Wind, time and water have given it 'sculptural' forms: its surface, struck by light or shrouded in shadow, its sensual curves that are the subject of my visions evoke bodies, wounds, faces, as if there was a kind of universal syntax underlying natural forms, revealing analogies between the mineral and the anthropic dimension. This perception of the analogies offered by natural elements leads me back to the ancient metaphorical vision of the cosmos, such as seen in Ovid’s “Metamorphoses”, where inorganic and organic life, stone and flesh, fuse along the continuum uniting all things.
